Dharma
@ 2008-05-14 – 20:25:02
Rampant corruption, inhuman cruelty and social disharmony that we see in the world in general and our country in particular is because we have ignored if not abandoned, the plans to inculcate the princibles of dharma in our people.Mere economic prosperity cannot make people good.Dharma ensures a moral,a restrained, a disciplined,a cooperative,a tolerant,in short a humane civil life.Such a life alone is a guarantee for world peace and world order.Unlike religion, dharma is both secular and spiritual. Therefore,in order to make the nation consisting of men who are selfish,of unblemished character, you need teaching and eventual practice of dharma (the principle of universal harmony)

Olympics Torch
@ 2008-04-09 – 18:40:05
Media reports that China wants its commandos to guards the olympic torch when it passes through New delhi show the extent to which the UPA govt.can abjectly grovel before Beijing"s increasingly outrageous demands. Its not the first time that the govt.of China has made outrageous demands or taken provocative measures. However, what is more outrageous is the UPA's supine ,and even servile, response to them.Has our govt.decided to be a vassal state of China? What a mind -boggling price the congress is paying for taking support of the communists in forming the govt.at the centre!

can't compare the two
@ 2008-04-09 – 10:05:50
Ideals of the olympics which the torch represents, have been brutally
suppressed by china's totalitarian govt.in Tibet.Further there can be no
comparison between tibet and Jammu Kashmir. While the Maharaja Hari singh ofJammu Kashmir had voluntarily signed an accession pact with the govt.of
India,Tibet was forcibly annexed by Mao Tse-tung's china in 1950. -
Tibet
@ 2008-03-29 – 16:06:33
The current situation in Tibet is extremely serious. Its the time for the international community including the united nations, governments, parliaments, human rights group to effectively urge the Chinese leadership to immediately stop repression and restore normalcy through peaceful means.India should also ask Chinese Govt.to invite His Holiness The Dalai Lama for meaningful dialouge and negotiations for the autonomy to solve the issue of Tibet.Further, the United Nations Human Rights council to immediately send a fact-finding delegation to all the affected areas in Tibet to prevent further deterioration of the critical situation. There should be full access to the media to report on this situation.

Need Youth Participation More Than Ever
@ 2008-03-28 – 18:52:03
With nearly half of the current global population under the age of 30, youth are crucial to poverty reduction and development . Today’s generation of young people is the largest in history; there are over 1.2 billion people between the ages of 15 and 30 around the world . An overwhelming percentage of these young people are facing immense challenges: over 200 million live in poverty, 130 million are illiterate, 88 million are unemployed, and 10 million are living with HIV/AIDS . The world is very different today than it was in their parent’s generation. Many of the most consequential factors shaping the lives of today’s youth are quite distinctive in history: globalization, communications technologies, population growth and environmental degradation are all contributing to the way we now live, communicate, and how we see our future.Globally pervasive problems require creative solutions.
. On International Youth Day 2007, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon noted that we “need youth participation more than ever. Their energy and idealism can help make up for lost ground, and achieve our development goals in full and on time” -
